SciWrench
For graduate students & researchers

Your data has a story.
Let’s figure out what it’s actually saying.

Research data is rarely born clean, tidy, and analysis-ready. SciWrench can help you move from messy files and uncertain analytical choices to a clear, reproducible, and defensible workflow—while making sure you understand the analysis you are using.

From raw data to understanding

Help where scientific analysis actually gets difficult.

The hard part is often not clicking “run.” It is deciding what should be done, getting the data into a usable form, checking whether the approach makes sense, and understanding what the result does—and does not—support.

01

Clean & organize

Untangle spreadsheets, inconsistent labels, missing values, awkward formats, duplicate records, and datasets that have evolved during a project.

02

Explore the data

Look for distributions, patterns, outliers, relationships, and potential problems before committing to a formal analysis.

03

Plan the analysis

Connect the research question, experimental design, variables, assumptions, and analytical approach instead of choosing a test by habit.

04

Analyze & troubleshoot

Work through statistical analyses and R or Python workflows, diagnose errors, check assumptions, and investigate results that do not behave as expected.

05

Visualize clearly

Turn results into figures and visual summaries that reveal the science rather than decorating it.

06

Interpret & reproduce

Understand what the output means, what conclusions are justified, and how to leave behind a workflow that can be rerun and defended.

Especially for graduate students

Research can get messy. That is where we come in.

A thesis or dissertation can leave you simultaneously acting as scientist, data manager, statistician, programmer, and figure designer. You do not have to become an expert in every one of those jobs before you can move your research forward. Sometimes you need a second scientific brain at the bench.

?“I have the data, but I’m not sure what analysis actually answers my question.”
R“My R code worked yesterday. Today it has chosen violence.”
↯“The dataset is a mess and I don’t even know where to start cleaning it.”
Σ“I got a result. I am considerably less certain about what that result means.”
↗“I need figures that communicate the result without making my committee squint at them.”
Scientific support, not a black box

The goal is not just an answer.

Good analytical support should leave you in a stronger position to understand, explain, reproduce, and defend your own research.

🧠 Understand the “why”

Work through why an approach fits your question, what assumptions matter, and what alternatives should be considered—not simply receive an output file.

🔁 Build reproducible workflows

Where appropriate, analysis can be structured in R, Python, or transparent repeatable workflows so the path from raw data to result can be inspected and rerun.

📊 Make the science visible

Develop figures that expose patterns, uncertainty, comparisons, and relationships without overstating what the data show.

🔧 Build something when needed

SciWrench can also explore purpose-built research utilities, data-processing tools, interactive visualizations, or small applications around a research workflow.

Your research should remain your research.

SciWrench supports legitimate research, learning, and analytical problem-solving. We can help you understand methods, work through your own research data, troubleshoot analyses, and develop reproducible workflows. We do not offer to complete graded coursework, fabricate or manipulate results, guarantee statistical significance, or manufacture conclusions the data do not support. See our Policies & Privacy for more information.

Bring us the messy part

You do not need to know the solution.
Start with the problem.

Tell us about the research question, the dataset, where you are stuck, and what you are trying to understand. A clean analysis plan is not required before you contact us—that may be exactly the part you need help figuring out.
